Vampires, Wizards and this misguided generation

posted by Spirit of the Eagle

Watching pop culture turn to stories of vampires, witches, wizards, and warlocks is disturbing. I remember idolizing them as a child watching Interview with a Vampire and various stories that depicted these types of characters as being good. You always had the dynamic of the good witch and the bad witch. There was always at least one vampire you could nearly fall in love with on screen. Now it is trickling down to children in more of a real way, to the point where they truly believe that they can do these things. The whole culture is sad.

I just watched a girl who plays a vampire on television ask the audience what they would rather be: vampire or dead. This is after she explained that in order to live as a vampire you have to be bitten, die, come back to life, kill someone, and drink their blood in order to live forever as a vampire. How sad is that? They KNOW what they have to do and yet they still choose to live as a vampire, killing innocent people for their life blood. So scary.

I am glad I know now what I didn’t as a child. We romanticized those characters and wished to be them. We pretended we had their powers. We always tried to become like them. Now I know that this is a way leading to the pit.

I pray for this generation to wake up and realize the truth.

Tears on the pillow

posted by Spirit of the Eagle

Once upon a time I was the one who refused to let my tears go, especially not in front of other people. I would have rather choked to death than to let one tear fall. That’s why I appreciate this blog post so much.
